MACHINE LEARNING FILM PRODUCTION VC
Born & raised in NYC, I’m currently a Deep Learning Researcher at Apple where I grapple with building ML systems that can translate human languages. Right now I think a lot about Spanish, Turkish, Thai, and Vietnamese! I also care deeply about privacy, having helped to build Apple’s privacy preserving machine learning infrastructure.
I’m also a film producer, with my latest project being a documentary called “Davis Out of The Unknown” about a sweet young boy living with a difficult rare disease — screening at film festivals in Austin, Seattle, and Rome. I also worked with the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival for many years.
Other prior projects include ML research for Replicant.ai’s ‘Thinking Machine’, product management at Microsoft, and the the first ever Algorithm Auction at the Cooper Hewitt Museum, among other escapades.

In 2022 we added support for translating Dutch, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and more on iPhones! Millions of people use our translation models every week
Part of the original team that released Apple Translation in 2020. Anyone with an iPhone can translate websites, text messages, and live conversations
Led a three person development team working on a knowledge graph product influenced by the art of Alexander Calder
Developed the original website for KHIRY jewelry (worn by Michelle Obama and others)
Built the website for an online magazine on coffee culture
Executive Producer for for a documentary about seven-year-old Davis Point who grapples with a rare genetic disorder called Koolen-de Vries Syndrome.
Co-author on Apple's paper describing its use of federated learning for privacy sensitive machine learning
11th employee at Braze (current market cap: 3.34 billion). Started working there in high school
Teaching Assistant at UPenn for four years throughout undergrad & grad school
In a PhD seminar on advanced NLP with Prof. Dan Roth, my co-author and I proposed a technique for improving entity linking in documents
Working with local art galleries, we developed a Computer Vision based platform for identifying which art pieces attracted the most foot traffic
Early editor for the documentary "One Big Home": Twelve years in the making, ONE BIG HOME follows one carpenter’s journey to understand the trend toward giant houses on an island
